A lot of people have been switching lighting in there house over to LED, to get the longer lasting bulb, less heat, and overall savings.    A homeowner that had a a recent house fire determined the cause to be a faulty LED Bulb.  Now this can be very serious if you have taken the route of installing LED bulbs in your house.

LED Bulb Recall

bulbs that are now recalled are by Lighting Science Group sold between September 2010 and March 2011 under the company names Definity, Eco-Smart, Sylvania and Westinghouse, specifically six, eight and nine watt bulbs

I read on Keloland that a Sioux Falls homeowner says investigators discovered her house caught fire because of a light bulb.  But there is a catch, this wasn’t just any light bulb; it was one of those new expensive ones that aren’t supposed to get hot.

“I don’t know how many are out there but I just hope no one else has to go through this because it’s very frightening,” homeowner Michelle Rife said on Keloland

Currently these bulbs listed below are now under a major recall. Nearly a half-million bulbs are being recalled for over heating causing smoke and in some cases even fire.

The bulbs that are ecalled are by Lighting Science Group sold between September 2010 and March 2011 under the company names Definity, Eco-Smart, Sylvania and Westinghouse. The bulbs are specifically the six, eight and nine watt bulbs.
