This is How You Can Stay on Verizon‘s Unlimited Data Plan

How to Still Get Verizons Unlimited Data at GmaNsWorlD.com

So do you want to keep your Verizon unlimited data plan?  If you are one of the lucky people out there that has a account with Verizon that includes the unlimited data plan, then I am sure you are like me and are looking to do whatever you can to not get rid of it!  I have personally tried these options and they do work!  Now rumors are always spreading, and how its going away, or you will not be able to renew.  Currently no matter what anybody else says, you still have ways to keep your Verizon unlimited data plan.  I bet a bunch of you have upgrades available on Verizon ever since the cutoff date when unlimited data was no longer available.  I can remember all my friends flocking to the stores to get there last deal in, and everybody getting the “Charge” since it was one of the first “4G” smartphones on the market.  So now if you sign up for a new two year plan with a subsidized phone you will lose the unlimited data option, so instead you are stuck buying your new or used phones outright in order to keep your unlimited data.

I have been doing some research online along with speaking to some of the local phone reps in the area and I have verified that there are ways for people with unlimited data that would like to get a new phone for the discounted rate. With my research, there are many places out in the internet that lists ways to keep your unlimited plan, and I am going to summarize them for you.   Many new phones are going to be hitting the market soon and over the holidays so now is the time to start to prepare.  With some of the new phones that are going to be released like Apples two iPhone 5c & 5s, Blackberry’s High powered  Z30, and Samsung’s Screaming Fast S5 models launching, it might be a good time to lay it out for everybody.

NOTE:  It would be best if you would not go to a Verizon Corporate Store, as they might have more strict rules on upgrades and policy’s, so it would be best to seek out a third party like Best Buy, TargetWalmart  or some of the local chains in order to guarantee you get it done right.

Not including the first option, but all the rest you are going to have to use Verizon’s Family Plans or AKA Buddy Plan upgrades, I have read that this loophole is possible. Essentially all you need is a line on your account that DOES have unlimited data and you’re set! There are four scenarios you could be in if you still have unlimited data.

Option 1

This is the easiest and most used option, and this would be to purchase yourself a new phone and face value, sometimes costing well over $500.  But this insures you do not have to sign a new contract, so you will be able to keep your current plan with the unlimited data.  (this option would also work by purchasing a used phone that is sold to you legally unlocked, and not tied to a current plan.)

Option 2

You are the only person on your account

Verizon High Speed Internet

In this scenario, you are the sole person on your account and you have unlimited data. The only way you can get by it is to add a line to your account. If you have unlimited, then you are on the old nationwide plans and you can add a line for $10 a month (You will have to change your plan to a family plan which may cost more depending on how many minutes you currently pay for). The way to make it the cheapest is to get a basic phone (It doesn’t even have to work). All you have to do is upgrade that line you just added to the phone you want. When its done, activate the old basic phone and the new phone you just added to your account becomes a phone you own. Then just activate that new phone on your line. It is the same concept as buying a phone on craigslist. Then you’re done. You have a second line thats only costing you $10 a month. When you upgrade in the future, you can donate the upgrade on your line to that new line and repeat the process. You will get an extra upgrade and keep your unlimited until Verizon finds a way to block it.

Option 3

You are on a family plan and everyone on that account has unlimited data

In this scenario, you have two options. You can either add another line for $10 a month and repeat the same process as listed above (Which I recommend because then everyone keeps their unlimited) or you can pick one of the lines that doesn’t need unlimited and donate your upgrade to that line. That line will lose unlimited, but once you pull the new phone off and put theirs back on, you can activate the new one on your line and you can keep using your unlimited. From then on out, simply give the upgrades on the lines that have unlimited to the one line that now doesn’t. Upgrade to the phone you want, and swap the devices.

Option 4

You are on a family plan and someone on the account doesn’t have unlimited data

The final scenario is the easiest to perform and also the one that I have used throughout the last few years, when I had the upgrade option available on other phones in my Family Plan.  This also doesn’t cost any extra to you. Donate your upgrade to that line (s)  without unlimited data, and once it is activated put the old phone back on that line. Then take the new phone and activate it under your line and enjoy your unlimited data.

I hope this can help at least a few people out there. I wanted to let everybody know that I could so with the few free options or one of the $10 extra a month options, it is hard to beat considering you get two upgrades for yourself now and you get to keep your unlimited data. Please share with us in the comments below any of your stories you had trying to keep your unlimited plan.

Computers Will Be Able To See, Hear, Taste, Touch and Smell by 2018

In its annual ’5 in 5′ predictions, IBM forecasted that in five years, computers will gain the five senses and be able to experience the world as humans do.

Feel it before you buy it on your phone

Some day soon, you’ll be able to order a wedding dress on your tablet and feel the fabric and the veil just by touching the screen.

When you feel an object, your brain registers the series of vibrations on your skin as being smooth, rough, sharp, etc. Computer sensors are becoming sophisticated enough to do that too.

Within the next five years, vibrators within smartphones will be precise enough that they could be designed to mimic the vibrations experienced when your fingers touch a particular surface. Even though you’ll just be touching glass, it will feel like you’re touching whatever object is displayed on the screen.

“We’re not talking about fuzzy screens,” said Bernie Meyerson, IBM’s (IBMFortune 500) vice president of innovation. “You’re not going to have to dry clean your Samsung.”

In some ways, computers are already simulating touch — albeit in a crude form. When you’re driving a car in a video game, the controller vibrates when the car starts to veer off the road. It may not feel precisely like a steering wheel’s vibrations when you hit gravel, but within five years, that technology is expected to become even more lifelike.

IBM’s researchers are working on just that — creating applications for the retail and healthcare sectors that use haptic, infrared or pressure-sensitive technologies to simulate touch.

See

Today’s computers are very good at capturing and displaying images, but despite advances in image recognition software, computers are still pretty lousy at understanding what they’re “looking” at. Humans are still needed to tag friends, label photos and identify diseases.

In five years, all that will change, IBM says. Computers will be able to interpret images better than we can, analyzing colors, texture patterns and gaining insights from other visual media. They will even surpass doctors’ abilities to read medical imagery, including MRIs, CT scans, X-Rays and ultrasounds.

Computers of the not-too-distant future will be able to see subtleties in images that can be invisible to the human eye. For instance, computers will be able to quickly differentiate healthy from diseased tissue on an MRI and cross-reference the image with a patient’s medical history and scientific literature to make a diagnosis.

Hear

Imagine holding a smartphone up to your infant when she’s making a sound, and the app displaying a message: “I’m hungry.” That’s not as far-off as you might think. In five years, computers will be able to detect elements of sounds that humans can hear but aren’t able to understand. As every parent knows, the difference between normal babbling and a message that something is wrong can be extremely subtle. Computers of the near-future will not only be able to detect whether a baby is upset, they’ll be able to determine if the child is hungry, tired, hot or in pain.

By interpreting different sound pressures, vibrations and waves, computers will be able to predict when trees are about to fall, when landslides are imminent, or when cars are about to collide before humans can.

Computers are already starting to do this: In Galway Bay, Ireland, IBM researchers are capturing underwater noise levels to understand the impact that different sounds have on sea life.

Taste

Within the next five years, a computer will help you make the perfect recipe — not too sweet, not too salty, not too crunchy, but just the way you like it.

By breaking down foods to the molecular level, computers will be able to use complex algorithms to determine what flavor combinations are the most appealing. They could then develop recipes that provide the ideal flavor and texture of food. Think of it as the Watson of Top Chef.

The technology could be used to help people eat better, IBM says. By making healthy foods taste better, people might crave vegetable dishes instead of sugary and fatty junk foods.

Though computers aren’t quite there yet, they are “tasting” things today. Specially designed microchips are being used in chemical and power plants to sense biohazards in the air. IBM researchers are working to adapt that technology to analyze the chemical structures in food.

Smell

Do you think you’re coming down with a cold? In five years, you’ll be able to breathe into your smartphone to find out.

IBM researchers are developing technology to analyze odors in people’s breath that identify ailments, including liver and kidney disorders, asthma, diabetes and epilepsy. By determining which odors and molecules in a person’s breath are associated with each disease, computers of the future will be able to make an instant analysis for problems that today could be misdiagnosed or go undetected by a doctor.

Computers will also be able to detect harmful bacteria that cause Staph infections in hospitals just by smelling the surroundings.

In a more rudimentary form, computers are smelling things now: Agricultural sensors smell soil to determine crop conditions, sensors in museums determine which gas levels are ideal to preserve paintings, and city sanitation departments use computers that can smell garbage and pollution to alert workers when conditions are getting dangerous.

I am working on the new setup for my home office. I currently have four 24 inch monitors running 1920 X 1200 resolution.  I think I might have to replace out the bottom row, they are LCD and boy do they run HOT!  Keeps the basement warm in winter that’s for sure.  The LED on top is nice an cool.

EasyMountLCD – Deluxe Hex Monitor Stand Free Standing Supports up to 6 28″

After lots of research and sitting on the fence I ended up getting the Deluxe Hex Monitor Stand Free Standing by EasyMountLCD from Amazon.com.  I have 4 LCD monitors 3 Dell 2408WFP Monitors, 1 Gatewayand 1 HP LA2405x LED montior 1I was very impressed with the sturdyness of this mount, and it is very heavy.  It does sit on my desk, but I am not worried with it falling over.  I do only have 5 montiors on now, because it turns out my Samsung 24″ is not the VESA standard.  So I have an open spot for now.  I did turn my top left monitor sideways so it allows me to see the TV behind it better.  🙂

Ad Awareness – BlackBerry Increasing Apples Sinking

Blackberrys New Phone Lineup

BlackBerry is Gaining Back Ad Awareness While Apples is Decreasing

Ad Awareness BlackBerry Increasing Apples Sinking?  Is that correct?  Records prove Ad Awareness numbers.  BlackBerry hasn’t been known for their excellent marketing. Their new CMO, Frank Boulben, has sought to make that change. One effort was a company first by launching a $4 million ad during the Super Bowl.

Blackberry Ad Awareness Growing vs Apple iPhone Slips

It looks to be paying off. According to recent data, BlackBerry’s ad awareness is gaining on Apple. BlackBerry rose from a low of 6% in mid-January to 21% by the end of February.

Apple on the other hand is seeing a decrease. Their ad awareness dropped from 44% on January 15 to 38% on March 4, while their purchase intent also decreased from 14% to 7%.

Blackberrys New Phone Lineup

The new BlackBerry OS and the two models which run it–the Z10 and Q10–are considered by many the last chance to save the BlackBerry brand.  As such, the company has staked much in the way of resources to make it a success.  The OS, which has been two years in the making, has been entirely rebuilt, using technology obtained when the company acquired QNX. So far the reviews for both the OS and new models have been good.  The Financial Times, for one, effusively makes the case that the company has out-Appled Apple:  “Within 30 seconds of picking it up, I felt as if I had the iPhone 6 in my hand. Running iOS 7. It is an awesome phone, with a pleasing new operating system, BB10.

Complementary data from YouGov InvestorView also paints a modestly improved picture for BlackBerry. According to data compiled over the first quarter of 2012, among consumers who owned a BlackBerry phone and were likely to purchase a new phone in the next six months, only 30% planned to choose another BlackBerry phone. More BlackBerry users (34%) were likely to purchase an iPhone and an additional 12% planned to purchase from Samsung.

On the other hand, during the first two months of 2013, 34% of BlackBerry owners who plan to purchase a new phone in the next six months say they will stay with BlackBerry. Planned defections to Apple have decreased significantly to 17% while planned defections to Samsung have increased to 31%.

The data presented is far from indicative of certain success for BlackBerry, but it appears there is at least an opening for the company to take back some ground.  While the US will still have to wait a few weeks for the full release of the new phones, BlackBerry might just have a chance.
